Personal
color analysis

What it is, what it costs, where to get it.

A consultant drapes fabric under your bare face. The output: a season classification and a palette you can shop with.

Below: price band, Seoul districts, English booking flow, what to bring.

What you get

A four-season classification, then a sub-type within that season.

  • Spring Warm Bright

Clear, light, warm undertone. Coral, peach, light camel.

  • Summer Cool Soft

Soft, hazy, cool undertone. Rose, mauve, dusty blue.

  • Autumn Warm Deep

Earthy, warm, low-saturation. Olive, brick, mustard.

  • Winter Cool Bright

Crisp, cool, high-contrast. True red, royal blue, black.

Studio photo, makeup recommendation, sometimes paired with a hair consultation.

Where in Seoul

Studios cluster in four areas. Each has a different price band and vibe.

  • Gangnam

The dense cluster. Most diagnosis studios are within Gangnam, Sinsa, or Apgujeong. Higher price band, more polished interiors, more rigorous draping setups.

  • Hongdae

Younger, lower-priced studios near university crowds. Group sessions and shorter formats are easier to find here.

  • Seongsu

Trend-driven studios that pair diagnosis with photo studio packages. Often booked alongside hair / makeup sessions.

  • Myeongdong

Tourist-area pricing; some studios cater specifically to foreign visitors with English staff. Convenient but rarely the cheapest.

Booking in English

Most Seoul studios take reservations in Korean only, by Naver booking or KakaoTalk.

For foreign visitors without Korean, the practical path is an aggregator platform that handles the English booking on your behalf: Creatrip, Klook, or Trazy all list Seoul personal color studios with English staff.

DealSeoul does not handle bookings. We will list verified English-friendly studios on this page as we confirm them ourselves.

Before the session

  • Book ahead

Walk-in is rare. Most studios require online reservation in Korean. Foreign-friendly booking via aggregator platforms is the easiest path if you cannot read Korean.

  • Bare face

Arrive with no makeup, no tinted moisturiser, no contact lenses. The diagnosis reads your bare skin against drape fabric. Photo result will also be taken bare-faced.

  • Wear neutral clothing

A white or beige top minimises colour bounce on your face. Strong saturated colours can throw the drape comparison.

  • Bring your own reference

Photos of clothes you actually wear help the consultant explain which sub-season suits your wardrobe, not just textbook palettes.

  • Translation has limits

The result sheet is usually in Korean with colour swatches. A consultant who speaks English will walk through it during the session. The printed sheet may still need a translation app afterwards.

  • Expect 60-120 minutes

Quick screen formats run 30-45 minutes. Full draping with photo and printed palette takes 1.5-2 hours. Pick by how much time you have.

After your diagnosis

Use the palette while you shop the rest of the trip.

Common questions

  • What is Korean personal color analysis?

A consultant drapes coloured fabrics under your bare face to test which warm or cool, light or deep, clear or soft tones make your skin look most even. The output is a season classification (Spring / Summer / Autumn / Winter, with a sub-type) and a printed palette of colours to wear and avoid.

  • How much does it cost in Seoul?

Sessions range widely. Quick group formats can be as low as ₩60,000-100,000. Solo full-draping sessions in Gangnam studios run ₩150,000-250,000, sometimes higher with photo or makeup add-ons. Aggregator platforms (Creatrip, Klook, Trazy) list specific studio prices in English.

  • Do I need to speak Korean?

Some studios offer English-speaking consultants, especially those that work with aggregator platforms. Walk-in to a Korean-only studio is hard unless you bring a translator. Book through a foreigner-facing platform if your Korean is limited.

  • Where are the studios?

Mostly Gangnam, Sinsa, Apgujeong (premium price band), with younger studios in Hongdae and Seongsu. A handful in Myeongdong cater to tourists. Most are 5-10 minutes walking distance from a subway station.

  • What do I get at the end?

A season classification (e.g. Spring Warm Bright), a printed colour palette card, makeup and clothing recommendations, sometimes a tagged photo of you in your best draping colours. Bring it home and use it when shopping K-fashion or K-beauty.

  • Is it worth it for a short trip?

If you plan to shop K-fashion or K-beauty in Seoul, doing the analysis on day one and shopping on days two and three makes the trip more useful. If you only have one day, skip it. Diagnosis plus same-day shopping is a tight schedule.
