Anthracite Hapjeong
An abandoned shoe factory turned into Seoul's foundational specialty roastery.
Hand-drip from single origins (Ethiopia, Colombia, Kenya, Brazil) roasted on-site, plus madeleines, financiers, and cakes. Blend names borrow from writers and poets including Natsume Soseki, William Blake, and Pablo Neruda. This is the original Anthracite, opened in 2009 inside a converted shoe factory in Hapjeong. The interior keeps the bones: concrete walls, stone floors, exposed beams, ample seating. Anthracite now runs additional branches in Hannam, Seogyo, Yeonhui, plus locations outside Seoul, but the Hapjeong space is the one that built the brand.
