About the data
Population figures are five-minute estimates from mobile-signal counts at each hotspot, published by the city and delivered with roughly a 15-minute delay, so "now" here means "a few minutes ago". Age bands and gender are separate breakdowns of the same crowd; the data does not say, and this page never claims, how many people are in both a given age band and a given gender.
Card figures are payment counts and won ranges from Shinhan Card's realtime sample, not totals for all spending. Where fewer than 30 payments landed in the window, the who-is-paying split is hidden: four payments at dawn once read "100% male", which is true and useless at the same time.
Pop-up and late-night counts are DealSeoul listings within about 1km of each zone center, as of the last site build. Spending ranks each zone by its card-tap count against the other zones in this same reading.
Category lenses in Spending count only that category's card taps; zones with fewer than 5 taps in the chosen lens are left out. Beauty is the feed's own 미용 line and only appears when the city reports it.
Share within each area, not a share of all people in Seoul. One demographic lens at a time.
Last Friday uses the city's 250 m population grid: exact counts by age and gender, published four days later.
