Emergency

Lost passport

File a police report first

Go to any police station (call 112 to find the nearest) and get a written report.
Your embassy needs it to issue a replacement.

Then go to your embassy

They issue an emergency travel document to get you home.
Most embassies sit in Jongno or Yongsan; bring the police report and a passport photo.

Foreigner help desks
Keep a photo of your passport

A phone photo of the ID page, plus one spare passport photo, turns a crisis into a quick errand.
Do it before you fly.

Hurt or sick

119 for an ambulance, it's free

Free for foreigners too.
Say 'English, please' (영어 부탁합니다).
For something less urgent, call 1339 to be routed to the right nearby hospital.

Big hospitals have international clinics

Severance, Samsung Medical Center, Asan and Seoul National University Hospital run English-speaking international healthcare centers.

You pay upfront, claim on insurance

You settle the bill at the hospital or pharmacy, then reimburse through travel insurance.
Keep every receipt.

Lost something

Don’t assume it’s gone

Phones and wallets left in a café or taxi are handed in remarkably often.
It’s one of the safest cities for this.

Check Lost & Found

Each subway line runs a Lost & Found office; the police lost-property site lost112.go.kr is the national catch-all; for a taxi, check your Kakao T trip history.
