Cheonggyecheon Stream

A restored stream cutting a cool, quiet promenade below the downtown traffic.

An 11-kilometre stream uncovered from beneath a motorway in 2005, now a sunken riverside walk.
The water runs about five metres below street level, so it stays cool and quiet in the middle of the city.
Start at the Cheonggye Plaza waterfall by Gwanghwamun and follow it east.
It is lined with lights and art installations, busiest in the evening.
