Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Town
The birthplace of broth-style tteokbokki, an entire alley dedicated to one dish since 1953.
Tteokbokki here is a tableside hotpot, not a paper cup of street rice cake. Order with ramyeon noodles, fish cake, dumplings, and boiled egg simmered in fiery gochujang broth. Mabokrim Halmeoni is the original (since 1953). Sindang-dong Tteokbokki Alley traces back to 1953, originating with Mabongnim Halmeoni who is credited as the creator of modern gochujang tteokbokki.
