Some 700 tiled-roof hanok stand shoulder to shoulder in the heart of Jeonju, low clay walls tracing quiet alleys. It's the country's biggest, densest city-center hanok village, packed with craft workshops, tea houses, cafes and Jeonju's famous food. Come for the layered history and hanbok photos, stay for bibimbap and rooftop views.

Jeondong Catholic Church One of Korea's most beautiful churches, built on a site tied to early Catholic martyrdom.
Gyeonggijeon Shrine Home to the enshrined portrait of King Taejo of Joseon; free entry if you wear hanbok.
Jeonjuhyanggyo Confucian School The best-preserved local Confucian school in Korea and the village's most tranquil corner.
