Old hardware alleys, now Busan's coffee core
Once a dense strip of hardware stores in Seomyeon, this Busanjin-gu neighborhood reinvented itself around 2009 as young owners turned empty shops into cafes, studios and boutiques. The mix of grinding-steel workshops and specialty coffee gives it a look you won't find elsewhere, which is why the New York Times listed it among its 52 Places to Go in 2017. Come for the coffee, stay for the vintage shops, photo studios and craft workshops packed into the side alleys.

Cafe-hop the main street Specialty roasters and dessert spots sit shoulder to shoulder along the original strip.
Jeollidan-gil (old Hardware Street) Trendy eateries and pop-ups now mingle with the surviving old shops.
Jeonpo Sait-gil back alleys Also called Seomyeon 4beon-ga, these lanes are dotted with photo-ready corners.
Craft workshops Try a one-day silver ring class or browse glass art between the cafes.
